A tiny detail that stays a bigger question on the minds of our team brothers and sisters. The infamous incident about this particular 12 (we not sure if he knows his precise age) year old kid who does not have a place to call home rather than the streets, no education at all and cannot read and write either went to a second hand clothing market and bought this T-shirt . When asked on his interview during one of the Wings of Hope Visit whether he knew the meaning of what is written on the T-shirt Mohammed Suleiman had no idea.
The Tshirt read "My parents said i should spend a little more time outside" It may sound like a small detail on the outside but this T-shirt might have shaped his life on streets without him having a slight idea about it. Think about it...
Since Mohammed, unlikely other kids, his way of earning life on streets is basically by begging. He is very young and cannot work harder like other kids.
During begging the people he believe could offer help, his T-shirt and the street setting might have triggered alot of individuals to reflect their relationship with their kids/parents, with God and their outlook on Street Children at large. When Mohammed was sharing us his story it was clear that ..something ..somebody or a certain power was behind this amazing coincidence. Mohammed father has been unfair to this kid through Child abuse by extremely beatings and as a kid he was probably too young to make the right choice but to face streets.
Another thing that really really moved my heart was his answer when asked, What is your biggest challenge in Street Life? he said "It's too Cold". This draws my conclusion that God is looking upon all of us in different way. We might not notice when he made his move just like Mohammed literally did not know the meaning of the words on the T-shirt he bought by himself but we are being served and serving a purpose as we live day by day.
Wings of Hope interviews different Children and covers their Heartbreaking Stories with reason and concrete and we cannot deny that it is hard to spend time with these children and actually hear the Child abuse that taken place at these places we call home by our very own parents.
Its time we END VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN!
